The goal of this project is to enhance the user experience and make navigating the dashboard easier for their non-tech savvy customers.
Before the overhaul of the Get More Reviews dashboard, our client faced issues with customer retention after the trial period due to the old design being difficult to navigate and understand. Additionally, the design was outdated, had excessive blank spaces, and lacked good contrast in some areas.
After reviewing the project brief from the client and interviewing them to understand the product, current problems and their design goal, our team was able to come up with the following solutions:
When our client approached us for an overhaul of their dashboard, they specifically mentioned wanting to simplify the side navigation bar. In the new userflow and sitemap, the order of the list has been changed, with the most visited pages now appearing at the top to make navigation easier for users. We have also eliminated the switch functionality from the sidebar to avoid confusion.
There were numerous iterations in terms of the style of graphs, paddings of the boxes in some sections and finalizing the items in the sidebar menu.
This project was my first experience designing dashboard analytics. It was challenging because the data needed to be presented clearly and simply. I found out that the biggest challenge in designing this kind of platform was finding a solution to compress data, and other details into graphs and tables while maintaining simplicity. Additionally, the client requested that all 25+ screens be completed in less than two months. The key to our success in this project was asking important questions to the clients at the early stage of the project to fully understand their requirements. Moreover, constant communication with the entire team was crucial.
